"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic…” Arthur C. Clarke
She didn’t mean to use magic
She didn’t even know she HAD magic
She just wanted to save her brother, who was dying in her arms.
Accused of using illegal magic, and sentenced to a cruel death at the hands of the city’s guards, Hannah has no choice but to trust in the aid of a strange old man who wields unimaginable power.
The Founder has returned to correct the wrongs of unjust. But to do that, he needs Hannah, a young woman from the city slums. She has a key to unlocking a power even greater than his own--if she can only learn to trust herself and the magic flowing within her blood.
Restriction is a fantasy set in the far future, where magic and monsters ravage the land of Irth and only the strong survive.
Set on the foundation laid by the Kurtherian Gambit Series, Restriction tells an entirely new story in the Age of Magic--and of the heroes and villains who battle for control of its destiny.

I was excited about this book and its authors after listening to their podcasts. They have a history of words and academia and I wanted to see how they would transform that into the Kurtherian Gambit series. Great job guys! The characters are engaging, with the reader having no problem distinguishing between the good and the bad people. Regarding the plot, it moves very quickly, as the war between Hannah and Adrien escalates to a fever pitch. This novel reads smoothly (great job with the editing), leaving the reader to avidly turn each page.
So, why 4 stars? It is a little repetitive in some parts (Parker, for instance, during his secretive entrance into Arcadia and the chase across the roofs repeatedly says that he is so very familiar with secret entrances, alleys, finding ways to get on the roof, the path across the roofs. This is definitely written using different words, but the meaning is repeated.) As they continue the series, I expect these glitches will disappear.

Restriction Age Of Magic The Rise of Magic Book 1 eBook CM Raymond LE Barbant Michael Anderle Candy Crum Reviews
The directions said type in Kurtherian Gambit. It never said there were dangerous curves in the road. But with Sir Michael around one should know better.
You best warn those two Sir Michael. They have fed your monster. Now it expects to be fed regularly.
Very well written, I was into it from the first page, I am definitely hooked, now get cracking and give me more!! Loved it. )
Being a huge fan of the TKG universe I stepped into this series expecting greatness. You all have blown my mind. Just as a stand alone away from the rest of the universe I can't wait to open the next book in the series. The characters you have developed and the way the story is progressing leaves me longing for more . Keep up the outstanding work!!! BTW your series is the 1st one (Yes even Yoda's) that I've written a review on the 1st book.
I liked the premise of this book a lot. Clarke’s quote spun into good world building would be very interesting. Unfortunately the authors phrasing of sentences and word choices made this very difficult for me to read. Just the prolog was filled with many odd choices that, for me, broke the rhythm of the paragraph and disrupted what was being told. In the end I had to return it. To my experience people don’t speak in the manner in which they were being represented in this book. Sorry. I wanted to like it.
This is the beginning of the next arc in The Kurtherian Gambit, an arc about everyone having the ability for wielding magic. I hope they make a wonderful world. Can't wait to see what's next.
Well done! Similar style as Michael's, which is good. Similar flavor, which is good. But completely different environment. Enjoyed reading the story very much and look forward to the next story as much as I look forward to Michael's next book. 'Nuff said
Not at all what I expected. In a good way! I thought this series would be the "bad one" (finally!) in the Kurtherian universe, trying to stick some mediocre fantasy on the edges of a well-built SF world. Nope! Kick-ass characters, a very well thought out backstory that ties in perfectly, a plot with plenty of twists and foreshadowing of things to come (wanna bet the bad guy is building a nuke?) and some EXCELLENT writing. Plus it has dragons! (Or at least one.) The "magic" even makes sense in the technological way. And Hannah... Bethany Anne's attitude in a young smartass who is ABOUT to be a seriously powerful magician. Whoa!
Somehow I've gone from "eh, another spinoff..." to "WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE COMING OUT????"
